6:15 am – Got up
A lot of things don’t feel right today. I probably pulled the right groin a few days ago and am just now feeling the consequences. I needed to grab the thigh and pull it slowly towards the body just to put on footwear. The skin on the nose is shedding too. Sort of what happens when you get sunburn except from the cold (coldburn?). The right big toe is a bit tender from all the bumping against the stair steps. On top of that, the forecast says it will rain the whole day.
8:45 am – Off we go
After much deliberation, I decided not to continue with the trail for today. The Kitayama 北山 (West) trail ranges from 80 to 450 meters in height and I don’t see an exit strategy as I would need to complete it within a day. The Nishiyama 西山 trail only has 235 meters as its highest but with the rain and me not 100%, I won’t risk it.
10:19 am – Uji
I went to Uji instead and visited Byodo-in and Ujigami Shrine and bought some tea. Uji makes the best tea in Kyoto.
10:27 am – Byodo-in
Its like looking at a 10-yen coin.
11:31 pm – On my way to Ujigami Shrine
This is the way to Uji Shrine.
11:46 am – Uji manhole
11:48 am – Ujigami Shrine
1:17 pm – Postbox at JR Uji Station
3:45 pm – Home sweet home
